HammerSpeak ("we," "us," or "our") is operated by NL Labs, based in Ohio. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use HammerSpeak.

Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly when you create an account:

• Name and email address
• Password (stored as a secure hash — we never store your plain-text password)
• Learning preferences (language direction, interface language)
• Profile photo (optional)

We also collect usage data automatically:

• Quiz results and phrase practice history
• Lesson completion progress
• Streak and mastery scores
• Device type and browser (via Google Analytics)

How We Use Your Information

• To provide and improve the HammerSpeak service
• To track your learning progress and personalize your experience
• To send transactional emails (welcome, password reset)
• To process payments securely through Stripe
• To analyze usage patterns and improve the app (via Google Analytics)

Third-Party Services

Stripe — We use Stripe to process subscription payments. When you subscribe, your payment information is collected and stored directly by Stripe. We never see or store your full credit card number. Stripe's privacy policy is available at stripe.com/privacy.

Google Analytics — We use Google Analytics to understand how users interact with HammerSpeak. Google Analytics collects anonymized usage data including pages visited, session duration, and device type. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Google Text-to-Speech — We use Google's Text-to-Speech API to generate audio pronunciations. Phrase text is sent to Google's servers to generate audio files, which are then cached on our servers.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure servers hosted by HostGator. We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and secure session management. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or business purposes.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and data
• Export your data

Children's Privacy

HammerSpeak is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately.
